A Little Late (but not by much)

In the spirit of bloggers everywhere, I share with you my plan for 2007:

1) I will resume regular exercise. No excuses. At least three times each week I will do something cardiovascular-like. And I will do something strength-training-ish at least two times per week. Whether I feel like it or not.

2) I will curb my unnecessary spending. To that end, I am joining Knit-From-Your-Stash-2007, started by Wendy . I’ll admit I was thinking along the same lines before she posted it, though. I have too many planned projects sitting and waiting.

3) I will reduce my consumption of chocolate. If I eat it, I will enjoy it. Therefore, no more cheap chocolate. If I’m going to eat it, I’ll get the good stuff and indulge, not gorge.

4) I will complete the purging of the stuff. The garage. The boxes migrating to the basement. If you’ve seen it, you know what I’m talking about.

5) I will work at being more elegantly timely with cards, gifts, and letters. No, I didn’t get Christmas cards sent out this year, either. And if you’ve been wondering where your birthday card is…not sent. Probably sitting on my desk, if I managed to buy you one.

6) I will say ‘no’ more often. I have the hardest time refusing when people ask me to help, especially when it has to do with crafty-stuff. (Hence, the Boar’s Head stress-issues.) I will consider the request, and truly evaluate whether I have the time and inclination to complete said request. And this includes requests made by my mother.

7) I will practice what the FlyLady teaches. But I won’t stress about it, because as she says: you’re not behind, just jump in wherever you are. I will make an effort to keep up with the daily and weekly lists.

And that’s it. Seven goals for 2007. I don’t call them ‘resolutions’ because I don’t think of them that way. I expect to make mistakes, to slip up. And that’s OK, because it’s the process of practicing that’s important. If I goof up, I try again. And if I’m persistent, I will have made significant progress, if not achieved, these goals.

Life is good. I’m not complaining in the least. These goals are so insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but they will make me feel just a little bit better about where I am in life. If the biggest issue I run into on a regular basis is getting my kid out the door in the morning (and BOY does that make me crabby!), I don’t have much room for complaints!

Life is good. Welcome, 2007! It’s going to be another good year!!
